“Ah, I can finally get some good rest,” Lin Xiuyuan said, patting his round belly as he leaned back on the sofa.
The family, of course, understood that by rest, he meant resting in the special space. Not just Lin Xiuyuan, but all of them had only dared to stay in the space for a while before coming out recently, and now they could spend some quality time with the elders.
Guo Yang and the others left the main hall and went back to the house next door after dinner. Su Jin had given them a lot of new bedding, so they would have to tidy up again once they got back.
The family exchanged glances and then each went back to their own rooms.
“Jiji”
Local Tyrant Gold lay sadly in the nest Mrs. Su had made for it, with a round apple in its paws, looking at the empty living room.
After tidying up their new bedroom, Su Jin hung up a portrait of the two of them, which she had taken out of the space, on the wall. Some of the green plants that used to be in their old room, she also placed on the windowsill.
The originally empty bedroom instantly felt warm and cozy.
“Xiao Jin”
Lu Hao, watching Su Jin busily arrange things, pulled her onto his lap and couldn’t help but kiss her.
He felt like it had been ages since he had last held his little wife; they’d been spending time with everyone during the day and he’d barely had the chance to even hold hands, let alone have a moment alone with her like this.
“Umm… Let’s go into the space first…”
Su Jin felt her face burn as if it was about to catch fire—if they stayed like this any longer…
(vitag.Init = window.vitag.Init || []).push(function(){viAPItag.display(“vi_765923973”)})
“Alright”
Lu Hao, too, knew that everyone was in the space, and it didn’t seem quite right for just the two of them not to join. He reluctantly let go of Su Jin’s waist, and hand in hand, they walked into the space.
As a breath of fresh air hit their faces, Su Jin noticed that the whole family had gathered, even Mao Qiqi had entered the space and was laughing and talking with the grandparents.
“Su Jin, you two finally came in. We were waiting for you. Come, come,” Lin Xiuyuan said, as he brought two stools out from the house and placed them in the courtyard.
“Waiting for us? What for?” Su Jin couldn’t remember if there was anything in particular.
“What else? To crack sunflower seeds and chat,” he replied.
“Alright then…”
Su Jin speechlessly grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds for Lu Hao, then another for herself, and started cracking them along with the others.
“By the way, girl, we haven’t let the space absorb the beast cores we collected on our journey, have we?” Nie Qing asked.
He noticed that the gray fog behind the creek had crept closer again. The last time, after absorbing the Golden Python’s beast core and the Zombie Dog’s beast core, the situation had improved greatly, but this fog was closer than before.
“Not yet, they’re all in the storage bag,”
After saying this, Su Jin took out the storage bag which contained beast cores from Mutated Cats of Xiao Wu Village, and those from some wild boars. The Mutated Cat’s beast core was quite large, and after taking it out of the storage bag, the space quickly absorbed those from the wild boars, and the cat’s beast core was also being absorbed at a visible pace.
“So beautiful,” Mao Qiqi exclaimed. As a Mental Element Ability User, she seemed able to see the spiritual power within the beast cores dissipating into sparkles within the space.
After the space finished absorbing these beast cores, Su Jin teleported herself to the area behind the creek. Good, the gray fog had receded even further than it had after the last absorption of the Golden Python’s core.
But these beast cores were far from enough. They wanted to upgrade the space, and right now it was difficult to even satisfy the space’s basic need for beast cores, not to mention upgrading it.
Su Jin shared this information with everyone, indicating they needed to make time to hunt some mutant animals or zombie creatures soon.
Speaking of this, Su Jin suddenly remembered something else.
“Uncle Nie, can my uncle take another Five Elements Pill now?”
Actually, eight days had already passed, but because the group had been constantly on the move, the opportunity had been delayed.
“Yes, he can, it’s just a matter of which element Brother Mao wants to choose now,” Nie Qing said with a smile.
“Really?!” Mao Zhihang’s eyes immediately lit up.
“I choose the Gold Recovery Pill.”
He had already made up his mind. After the failure with the Fire Recovery Pill last time, he felt that the team was lacking a Metal Element Ability User. Moreover, metal was an element that could be both offensive and defensive. He just wasn’t sure if he would be successful this time.
“Metal element? That’s good.”
Su Jin nodded, feeling that today, she too had thought it would be nice to have a Metal Element Ability User in the team.
“Dad, that’s great, you can definitely do it this time!” Mao Qiqi said firmly.
Lin Tianzhen was also encouraging Mao Zhihang on the side.
“Thank you, I will do my best.”
After saying that, Mao Zhihang followed Nie Qing into the Pill Room.
“Tianzhen, there’s no need to worry too much. Zhihang will definitely succeed this time,” Lin Tianhui consoled her younger sister.
“It’s not that I’m worried about whether he can succeed. I’m just worried that if it doesn’t work again, he’ll feel guilty,” after all, he was now the only one in the family without a special ability, and there must be pressure.
“Don’t worry, my uncle will definitely succeed this time,” Su Jin said with certainty.
Not knowing where Su Jin’s confidence came from, after waiting outside for half an hour, they saw Mao Zhihang coming out with a face full of joy.
“Tianzhen, I did it! It’s the metal element!”
“That’s great, Qiqi, dad really succeeded!” Lin Tianzhen said happily, pulling Qiqi along as she ran up to him.
The whole family was very happy, and they also felt that the Lu Family ancestors’ pills were really amazing; even people without special abilities could evolve them. Having each person evolve an ability was an enhancement to the strength of the entire team.
Seeing that everything had turned out joyously, Nie Qing confidently went to the inner house to watch TV. He remembered last time Lin Cheng talking about that, oh right, Journey to the West that involved overcoming eighty-one difficulties to reach Western Heaven for scriptures!
So he went to the row of DVDs he had collected in the bookshop and actually managed to find it. Although he did not recognize the “Journey” character in the middle, he could guess from the words “West” and “Classic.”
He carefully used two fingers to pick the DVD out and put it into the DVD player, remembering that Lu Guanhai had said when taking it out to prevent any dirt on one’s hands from sticking to it, otherwise it won’t play.
Then, the family sitting outside heard the familiar overture coming from the house. Was it really the old version of Journey to the West?
Who would have thought that anyone would watch that these days?
But considering Nie Qing’s origins, they did not say anything more. After all, he had never seen it before.
Su Jin planned to take out all the Crystal Cores that everyone had fought and won over the past few days after breakfast tomorrow, and to give out some of the Mutated Zombies’ Crystal Cores to everybody, allowing them to absorb them and improve their strength.
As for the distribution of the Ordinary Crystal Cores, she was still undecided. She initially planned to allocate as many Crystal Cores to each individual as the number of zombies they killed, but it turned out that this method was completely unworkable on the road, especially during encounters with zombie hordes, where nobody could remember how many zombies they had killed.
So they would discuss this tomorrow as well.
Just then, Lu Guanhai came over holding a large watermelon; he was ecstatic. He hadn’t expected that the two watermelon seeds he had planted carelessly would have already flowered and borne fruit!
The watermelon was huge, weighing at least a dozen or so pounds.
“Impressive, that watermelon looks great. I’ll go and cut it for you all to eat,” Lin Yunguo also exclaimed. He hadn’t noticed the watermelon yesterday, how had it grown so quickly?
