Chapter 151: The Calmness Of An Experienced Person
When Luke Lange picked up the Panspermia Sword that fell on the ground, the stadium went wild, and everyone began to wonder if he would even have the audacity to use his opponent’s weapon. Still, the half-wolf was respectful and threw the sword close to Serena. She had not attacked him when he briefly lost control of his consciousness, and for that, he had already gained enormous respect for her.
Serena was confused when she stood up and saw her sword fall beside her, but she understood the message Luke wanted to get through, seeing him pick up his Panspermia Axe from the ground.
‘He wants to finish this here and now…’ The woman picked up her sword and swung it a bit to get her muscles to adjust to the weight again. “You will get the clash you desire. Just don’t cry when you lose!” She shouted to Luke.
“If I lose, I promise I’ll buy every person in that stadium a round of beer!”
“Hum! I can’t say you’re not brave for saying that…”
Then Serena propelled herself toward Luke, and he ran into hers as too. Everyone thought they would once again hear the thunderous crash of the two Panspermia weapons, but both semifinalists thought the same thing: <Vind>.
Two intense gusts of wind suddenly collided, each coming from the right palm of each of the competitors. Both were pushed back as the abilities ceased. Luke was the quickest to react after the clash because he hurled the Behemoth Axe towards Serena, who decided to dodge it.
Immediately, Luke started running side by side with his Panspermia weapon, which flew towards the woman. This was no longer a fight of Skills but a fight of techniques.
Serena firmly established her feet on the ground and resisted the shock of the axe, and when Luke suddenly appeared to her left, about to kick her, she used <Vind> to try to make him lose his balance.
The half-wolf knew that this was not a legendary skill that he would never see another person using, but he never expected to fight against someone who also knew how to use <Vind>. In the end, Luke didn’t let himself get off balance, having kept some strength in his supporting foot.
Serena brandished her sword in his direction, and he deflected. She swung again, and Luke dodged again. With each sword strike he deflected; he became more distant from his axe lying on the ground.
‘Shit… I don’t want to let her hit me with that weapon again. It hurt too much in the first time.’ He thought as he dodged once more.
The woman’s huge sword ensured that she could keep her distance even when striking, and the fact that this weapon was thin made it light, fast, and deadly. Luke knew all these factors, so he kept a good distance margin.
The general public in the stadium was quiet and apprehensive. Some were rooting for the woman to succeed in hitting the half-wolf, and others were rooting the opposite. However, on top of the Municipal Arena, the mood was different. People kept commenting during the battle.
“If he was willing to lose a hand, or rather an arm… he could win this fight.”
“I don’t understand why he focuses so much on defense instead of using his explosive strength.”
Even the sharpest of eyes had not yet understood that Luke was not a warrior, although he could act like one. Every time he fought someone head-to-head, he was out of his comfort zone, which was stealth.
“I’m not the kind of person who questions this kind of thing, but doesn’t he seem too quiet to me? Is he swerving to provoke the girl?” A nobleman from the Daren Family asked.
Kristofer listened to the man in the row behind him and decided to answer him: “Well, I like quiet people. I never know if they are daydreaming or if they are carrying the weight of the world…”
The half-wolf dodged his opponent’s blows, not because he wanted to provoke her, but out of respect. He knew Serena was strong and that one mistake could cost him the tournament, so he tried to memorize her attack patterns. The woman was attacking relentlessly; however, she was still human and soon began to get tired. Luke took advantage of a moment when the woman’s attention was delayed to approach her.
The lilac sword missed him by a few hairs, and he raised his left fist quickly toward Serena’s chin. When his punch hit her, she flew back several meters and fell backward, near a small pile of rocks.
The thousands of people took even a little while to realize that the fight was over because just a few seconds ago, Serena had been attacking relentlessly.
“SERENA IS UNCONSCIOUS, SO THE WINNER IS THE ‘HALF-WOLF’!!!”
Euphorically, people jumped with excitement after the end of the ecstatic battle. The sheer adrenaline rush of seeing such fast-paced battles like this was why thousands of people paid hundreds of silver coins to watch this competition.
Luke was pretty out of breath by the end; after all, Serena’s blows were not at all easy to dodge. Luckily, he had practiced dodging with Alexis and could act faster. However, the half-beast soon decided the semifinal outcome and focused on the final, which was his great interest.
A large, yellow magic circle appeared below Serena and another below her Panspermia sword. For some reason, Luke was not teleported together this time, and he understood this as soon as he looked at the competitors’ stand. A slight glow appeared both on the other side of the circle, as well as in the exclusive bleachers, and moments later, Nebezial appeared on the battlefield.
“AND WE WON’T WAIT MUCH LONGER! THE FINAL BATTLE WILL HAPPEN HERE AND NOW!” Mikaela Åkerman announced, causing the audience to go wild.
Before looking at his opponent, Luke calmly walked over to his axe and picked it up from the stones. Next, he walked over to his Claymore and stored it in his inventory.. The half-wolf knew that he would need to use everything he had to beat an enemy with mysterious techniques.
