Chapter 347: Li Yan
It was the eve of the variety show. Chi Tong burst in while brimming with excitement. He waved the entry ticket in his hand. “Miss Ying, I got Mr. Lu’s ticket.’
Luo Ying took the ticket and nodded with a smile.
It could have been much simpler. With Lu Zhao’s influence, all he needed to do was give the production team a heads-up. He could simply waltz in without the ticket.
But Luo Ying wasn’t aiming for extravagance. She wanted to keep a low profile. She wanted Lu Zhao to watch her quietly from the audience.
This time, the program coordinators wanted the female celebrities to do a runway show before the main game segment. They were to bring their own gowns for the show.
There was no mystery behind this decision. This was yet another fashion showdown. It was likely that the celebrity guests were going to invest all their efforts into their gowns.
Luo Yings gown had been designed by David’s team a week ago. They’d sent it over to be worn by a model earlier on that day.
It was a wine-red fishtail one- shoulder dress that highlighted her hourglass figure and flattered her fair skin.
Luo Ying rarely donned such vibrant ensembles. In light of recent events, she was keen on breaking free from any lingering negativity. Furthermore, the premiere of her new drama was bound to make waves. A dazzling gown would undoubtedly spark conversations and contribute to the promotional efforts.
On the official day of shooting, Annie and her team were at the production team’s makeup room bright and early.
Over the past few years, Luya Group had been indirectly supporting David’s team with substantial resources. David had stressed the importance of giving Luo Ying their utmost attention.
Luo Ying entered the room with a bounce in her step. She’d enjoyed a restful beauty sleep last night. Today, her complexion was radiant. Even without makeup, her skin was porcelain-like and flawless.
Upon seeing her, Annie approached and embraced her warmly.
“Hey there, little darling. Each time we meet, you seem to be more beautiful than ever! Let me give you a smooch.” Annie affectionately ruffled Luo Ying’s hair.
“Feel free to praise me, but smooching is off-limits. My husband might get jealous,” Luo Ying playfully teased her.
Annie rolled her eyes. “What’s so great about men? You’d be better off with me,” she quipped.
They exchanged a few light-hearted jests before Annie began applying makeup on Luo Ying.
On that day, Annie had chosen a slightly retro and dramatic makeup look. It complemented the wine-red gown.
After extensive training, Annie was well-versed in runway makeup. Moreover, her prior collaborations with Luo Ying meant she understood Luo Yings facial features thoroughly.
After finishing the makeup, even Annie herself was taken aback.
She could hardly believe that this gorgeously dolled-up woman was the same person she’d been working on.
Luo Yings eyes were remarkably large. Annie worked on the corners of her eyes. The deep red matte eyeshadow carried an air of sophistication. There was a hint of iridescent pearl in the center.
Luo Yings lashes were impressively long. After a few strokes of the lash brush, she no longer needed to wear falsies. If she closed her eyes, she resembled a weeping underwater princess.
“You’re stunning, my goddess,” Annie praised her repeatedly.
Luo Ying was equally pleased with the makeup. In a way, it marked her first appearance on a variety show since her recovery. It had far exceeded her expectations.
While dressed in her gown, Luo Ying readied herself to enter the venue and wait.
As she stepped out, a buzz of excitement filled the air outside.
“Oh my goodness, look at her!”
“She’s incredible. How does she do it?”
“Her aura is almost on par with an international superstar.”
“How are the other celebrities supposed to measure up?”
Amidst the compliments, Luo Ying walked toward the waiting area. She couldn’t help but feel a tad smug. (toward is the US spelling)
It was indeed a transformation. Before, she often radiated youthful energy. She gave off the impression of a vivacious young girl with a whole life ahead of her.
However, recent experiences had tempered her significantly. Now, she exuded a unique charm that was both mature and gracefully youthful.
Suddenly, she stumbled and almost fell.
She turned around to see a woman stepping on her gown.
Li Yan wore an air of arrogance. “l apologize. I was not looking.”
Though her words conveyed an apology, Li Yan’s tone was laced with provocation.
Luo Ying calmly adjusted her hair and replied, “That’s all right. With eyes as tiny as yours, it’s understandable that you couldn’t see well..’!
