Little Mianmian, don’t play with me!
Ye Jinwen’s head throbbed with pain. In the few seconds while he spoke, he only felt a gust of wind pass by his side. Before he could grasp what was happening, an attractive hand opened the anti-theft door.
He gaped at the sudden arrival of Boss Xiao.
Hadn’t he just been playing it cool, saying “A man shouldn’t be too forward”?
Pah!
The atmosphere on the scene was a bit bewildering, a bit awkward.
Xiao Qimo stood at the doorway, twisting the handle, while Ye Jinwen was hunched over in a posture that suggested he’d been peeking through the peephole.
As for Lu Mian, she had turned halfway around and then abruptly stopped.
All three of them were caught off guard.
Both bosses were masters of composure, as long as they could hold it together internally, embarrassment didn’t belong to them.
Ye Jinwen scratched his head; he couldn’t handle it, feeling awkward all over.
After three seconds of silence, Lu Mian adjusted her stance, standing light and breezy in front of Xiao Qimo.
Her gaze was somewhat cold, with an air of clarity.

As her clarity shone through, the corner of her mouth also slowly curved into a smirk.
Ye Jinwen thought, feeling as if his every thought had been seen through, awkwardness intensifying…
Xiao Qimo wasn’t embarrassed, still looking graceful and at ease in his casual home attire. He bent slightly to pick up the food container from the floor.
As he leaned forward, the collar of his shirt revealed a large expanse of pale, cool skin, and from just a glimpse, one could see his strong pectorals and sculpted abs.
Lu Mian narrowed her eyes.
Xiao Qimo cracked a slight smile and handed the food container to Lu Mian, “Don’t be shy, go ahead and eat.”
“…” Lu Mian responded indifferently, “Thanks, but I’ve already eaten!”
Already eaten?
Where had she eaten?
With whom had she eaten?
Though he harbored numerous questions in his heart, Xiao Qimo remained stoic, pushing his glasses with his slender fingers, as he methodically and leisurely opened the food container.
“I’ve tried it, and it tastes pretty good.”
Lu Mian showed no reaction, but Ye Jinwen let out an audible gulp.
Both pairs of commanding gaze turned towards him.
He timidly raised his hands, “I can vouch for it, it really is delicious. Little Mianmian, trust me and give it a try!”
He even took the initiative to lift a burger up to Lu Mian, enthusiastically promoting his seventh brother’s handmade burger.
He firmly believed that if Lu Mian rejected his seventh brother’s burger that evening, he would kiss his sleep goodbye.
The aroma of the burger lingered at the tip of her nose, and Lu Mian took a careful sniff. It was the distinct scent of top-quality ingredients.
OK, there was nothing to fret about!
Being gluttonous wasn’t shameful, but wasting food was.
“Thank you,” Lu Mian accepted the burger.
Xiao Qimo felt a weight lifted off his chest, and promptly invited her to come inside, “Come in and eat, I just brewed some black tea.”
Lu Mian thought about the six burgers in the food container, knowing she couldn’t eat them all by herself, and it would be less wasteful to share with them, so she agreed.
Xiao Qimo’s mood improved another notch, but when he glanced at the corridor and noticed something lying on the floor, his expression cooled again.
He really didn’t want to know what it was, but it was too evident; he couldn’t just ignore it.
His long legs carried him over in a few strides, and he picked up the item from the ground, “Is this yours?”
Lu Mian turned around and saw, oh, Yu’s jacket.
Just a moment ago, she thought someone had left a dangerous item at her doorstep, and she was in full defense mode, flinging his jacket away, only to forget about it in the heat of the moment.
“Please, bring it over.”
“Sure.”
Xiao Qimo’s lips curled into a slight smile as he draped the jacket over his arm; discreetly, he glanced at the size label on the collar, already formulating his thoughts.
She had spent the evening with Yuren.
And then the question arose again—
What had they been doing together?
