The Thirteenth Night Part 1
“The game is over. My little girl, it’s time for you to come with me.”
Sean’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and his eyes followed Cassinio’s gaze back to the girl who was blocked by Joyce.
She looked to be only 17 or 18 years old. For a long time, her eyes seemed confused and stubborn, vaguely like the little girl who first came to the school.
She was Aretha.
But she also didn’t seem to be Aretha.
Cassinio approached them step by step then stood in front of them. Before he could speak, Joyce suddenly put her arms out in front of Aretha to protect her.
“Ev-even if you are the God of Light, you can’t bully a little girl.”
“When did I… bully her?” Cassinio raised an eyebrow at her words. He examined the vampire who stood in front of him. “Little vampire, didn’t anyone tell you that as a vampire you have to let a god through when you see him?”
“…” The man in front of her seemed to have a naturally oppressive air. It was as harsh, but the aura surrounding him was completely different from that of Sean’s. Joyce composed herself and did not retreat from the pressure. “She said she wanted to come to the School of Magic. You can’t take her away.”
Cassinio looked a little surprised at the words. He looked past Joyce to Aretha.
“Aren’t you already at the School of Magic? Now that the visit is over, it’s time for you to come back with me.”
Aretha clenched Joyce’s sleeve and mustered up her courage. “She’s not a vampire, she’s my friend! Also, I didn’t come here to visit the School of Magic… I came here to study magic!”
Cassinio’s eyes flickered with shock. Then, he frowned and said, “The magic here is not for you. If you want to learn magic, you can follow me…”
“No! I want to stay at the School of Magic, and I’m not going back with you!” Aretha looked up at the god who looked down upon her and said stubbornly and firmly, “I appreciate you for saving me and taking care of me for so many years, but I’m not her! I’m not anyone, but myself!”
Cassinio looked silently at the little girl in front of him. He did not speak for a while as if he were wondering how to coax such a stubborn and rebellious little girl.
He stepped forward and in an attempt to push Joyce aside.
But as soon as he raised his hand, Sean, who had been standing quietly since the beginning, blocked his hand.
“After all these years, you still like to force people to do what they are unwilling to do, Cassinio.”
When Cassinio raised his hand, Joyce felt the ends of her hair tremble with fear. Fortunately, Sean stopped him just as she was thinking about whether or not she should start begging for mercy…
However, just as Joyce breathed out a sigh of relief, she suddenly realized…
Sean was just a small, weak and helpless knight, and his sword was confiscated by Long Aotian… So, how could they escape from a god when he was physically weak like a chicken?!
As Joyce pondered, she let out a sigh and became nervous again.
Cassinio’s eyes sharpened dangerously. “What are you talking about?”
Joyce quickly pulled Sean behind her. She looked at the dangerous god in front of her and hopelessly explained, “I think… God of Light, didn’t you hear her say she didn’t want to go back? Since she likes the School of Magic, why don’t you just let her stay there? If she’s going to learn magic, why not learn it at the School of Magic? We are all friends here, so there is no need to be offended or annoyed. Don’t you think so…”
Cassinio’s gaze was on the two people she had pulled behind her. His face grew even darker. “Friends?”
“That’s right.” Joyce was stuck in the middle. She could only force herself to be brave and say, “Didn’t she say that she… she is not the Aretha you’re looking for. I don’t believe it either, but it doesn’t matter whether I believe it or whether you believe it. What matters is who she thinks she is.”
Cassinio frowned and looked over at the little girl behind her.
Aretha raised her head and met his gaze. She patted Joyce on the shoulder and walked around her with determination.
“She’s right. I’m not the one you’re looking for. I want to go to the School of Magic. I want to study hard through my own efforts instead of relying on your help.”
Cassinio continued to stare at the persistent girl in front of him without saying a word.
Joyce hastily put on a smile amid the standoff between them, and persuaded. “Since she wants to come to the School of Magic, you can let her go. In the worst case, you can go with her. Isn’t this the place where you first met? Also there’s another option, you can just go back to school as a teacher and teach her again…”
Cassinio raised an eyebrow and questioned, “Do you want to go to the School of Magic?”
Aretha nodded earnestly.
“Then you can,” Cassinio replied immediately. He leaned down to Aretha’s surprised eyes and looked at the stubborn little girl. “But I have put up with it for so long… It’s finally time to open the gift, and now you have to start all over again. How are you going to make it up to me in the future?”
His deep, gruff voice was sounded by her ear, and Aretha’s face instantly blushed.
Joyce eagerly watched how intimate they were. Seeing her gawking, Sean pulled her back with a darkened face. “It’s a pity that instructors like you are not welcome at the School of Magic.”
Cassinio looked up and accidentally looked at Sean with eyes full of happiness. “Who said… I am going to be an instructor?”
Sean’s eyes narrowed slightly. “What…”
