The Eleventh Night Part 2
“Have you heard?”
“What?”
“The King of Saidan is so arrogant. He says that their princess is Saidan’s treasure, but Princess Isabella has lived in the palace for a few days, and our king has not summoned her even once…”
“The king just wants to demoralize them. How can a princess of a small country like Saidan deserve the greatest King of Karnia?!”
“I heard that the princess has been unable to sit still for a long time and has gone to seek the king several times. Unfortunately, she has been turned away each time.”
“How is she the most beautiful princess out there? I think a small country like Saidan has never seen the world. If she really was a great beauty, then how could a man be willing to turn her down several times?!”
…
What’s going on?
According to the plot, Princess Isabella should receive a grand welcome when she comes to the palace since she’s the female lead. That’s how extravagant things were in the otome manga… Or does the Great Demon Dragon like to play this kind of back and forth?”
Joyce discreetly opened the curtain and looked at the people who had passed by the carriage. Then, she turned back to look at Sean next to her.
But then she thought back to how Sean defended the Great Demon Dragon and looked away awkwardly.
The carriage passed through a dense forest that was inhabited by magical beasts and spirits before they finally arrived at the legendary School of Magic at dusk.
Joyce was impressed by the magnificent college with the mysterious aura in front of her. She stood next to the parked carriage and looked up in wonder at the majestic building behind a wall.
A warm and dim light came from the college accompanied by the faint chattering of the students.
“How do we get in? Do we sneak in?” Joyce turned around and asked in a low voice, but she was already rubbing her hands in anticipation.
Sean got out of the carriage and stared at how she was about to jump up the wall. His thick eyebrows frowned slightly. “We go in here.”
Saying so, he slowly walked into the college under the astonished eyes of Joyce.
Joyce saw how he was about to get further away, so she quickly caught up with him and followed him. She carefully observed the students who occasionally glanced at them, and grabbed the corner of his sleeve albeit a little nervous.
Sean had an imposing aura that made others timid. Most of these students had just entered the school recently, and even if they did not know who Sean was, they still had a bit of involuntary awe when they came across him.
When he sensed her actions, Sean’s cold expression involuntarily held back a little.
“I-is it fine for us to just walk in like this?” Right now she was on her own… Oh wait, there was the knight next to her. Joyce remembered the strange magic that Sean had used, she asked guiltily, “Won’t we be discovered…”
His chilling eyebrows slightly relaxed, and his eyes accidentally glanced at the fingers that were on the hem of his sleeve.
“Put away your fangs.”
Upon hearing this, Joyce quickly covered her mouth.
Sean seemed to be in a good mood. He slowed down a little and spoke for the first time without thinking, “The second and third year students have gone out for training with their instructors at this time. Right now, most of the students in the school are first years. If we are careful, then we won’t be discovered.”
Joyce nodded her head seriously. “Where are we going now? To a classroom first? Or…”
“I’m going to see an old friend first.”
“An old friend?”
“Yeah.”
Sean had taken her to the college, but she saw that they were almost outside of the college’s territory. Joyce looked at the fireflies between the towering trees and shadows around her, and grabbed his sleeve more tightly.
“What is this place…”
Before Joyce could finish talking, birds in the forest suddenly made a startling cry. She embraced his arm and buried her head into his chest.
“Wh-what is it?”
Her sudden movement made Sean freeze and before he could answer, Joyce poked her head out of his chest and looked behind Sean curiously.
What appeared in front of them in the forest was a tombstone covered with fireflies.
Joyce gasped and buried her head into Sean’s chest again.
Sean patted her on the head. “Are all vampires as timid as you?”
“…” Joyce quickly raised her head. “Who’s timid?!”
Sean’s eyes contained some amusement. He turned around to look at the tombstone that had scared Joyce. “It was my carelessness,” he said. “The owner of this tombstone is the friend I want to see.”
Joyce slightly froze.
Sean walked to the ancient looking tombstone and lightly touched the writing with his finger.
“Long time no see, Miguel, my friend.”
It’s hard for Joyce to imagine someone like Sean calling a person “my friend”.
She did not come near as if she did not want to disturb the peaceful moment. She looked down at Sean squatting next to the tombstone.
Suddenly, she saw something flash by in the shadows of the trees around her. Joyce’s heart skipped a beat, and she glanced at Sean who was whispering something to the tombstone, and walked cautiously towards the swaying bushes close away.
She lightly pushed away the bushes to look behind it… only to see a young girl hiding there.
The young girl didn’t expect to be discovered, there was a trace of alarm in her eyes that dashed along with the firefly. But when Joyce got a closer look of the girl’s face, she took a deep breath.
At that very moment, a strong wind arrived in the forest, and the girl became even more frightened. She looked at Joyce pleadingly, and carefully, quietly made an action.
Joyce did not scream, but the girl suddenly slipped and fell straight into a black hole hidden in the bushes!
Before Joyce realized what was going on, she had reached out to grab the falling girl. However, the momentum from the fall was so great that she followed the girl into the black hole!
