The knock at the door resounded through the night,
carrying with it an indescribable hint of ambiguity.
It stirred restlessness in the heart of the person in the dark, as if tiny, unruly insects were gnawing away, the itching unbearable.
Wen Xian gazed down at his door, where a dim, yellow light seeped through from the inside.
It’s so late…
He hadn’t slept yet, what was he doing?
As she pondered with her head lowered, her fists clenched and her heart thumping, suddenly—
Footsteps faintly made their way to her from inside.
She immediately held her breath, her gaze fixed on the doorknob.
The steps from inside grew closer and closer until they stopped at the door, separated from her by a mere barrier.
Wen Xian watched wide-eyed as the doorknob turned downward, and the door was opened from the inside—
“…”
A tall figure suddenly came into view.
(vitag.Init = window.vitag.Init || []).push(function(){viAPItag.display(“vi_765923973”)})
His frame blocked the dim light of the room, enveloping her in his dark silhouette.
Wen Xian just looked at him, her raised hand still aloft, but her gaze froze.
He, he was actually—
“Is it you?”
Lu Xiao looked down at her, frowning, seemingly not expecting her to be the visitor.
His gaze was heavy as it fell upon her—
Wen Xian was wearing the beautiful red slip dress from earlier that night, her fair skin, the stunning red gown, her slightly curled hair, alluring and enchanting.
In the dead of night, she appeared at his door like this…?
Lu Xiao’s expression shifted subtly, his grip on the doorknob tightening.
“What are you here for!?”
His voice was husky in the night, as if laced with smoke, and on this night of ulterior motives, the gravelly timbre made her legs inexplicably weak.
Wen Xian’s delicate fingers pinched the door frame.
Looking at the scene before her, her breathing became somewhat erratic.
She had long suspected that Lu Xiao had a great physique, a blend of cold hardness and rugged handsomeness, but she didn’t expect to be so taken aback upon seeing it with her own eyes.
Perhaps he had thought someone came to see him over an emergency, wearing only a pair of loose grey sweatpants on the lower body, topped with a black shirt.
But the shirt’s buttons were not fastened.
He stood there, bare-chested, his abdominal muscles rippling down to the V-shaped muscle line… extending all the way just below the waistband of his pants…
Wen Xian swallowed, her eyes almost greedily staring at his strong and sturdy frame.
Lu Xiao’s temples throbbed suddenly: “…”
She was like a seductive siren, her voice enchanting, leisurely asking him, “…Captain Lu, you say, in the middle of the night, I come looking for you, what would it be for?”
You say, what else could it be for…?
As she spoke, her graceful figure drew even closer to him.
Lu Xiao stood firm like a wall, unmoving, his cold gaze fixed intently on her.
Wen Xian swayed beneath his eyelids, like an irresistibly tempting wild rose, blooming with exquisite allure.
Lu Xiao was neither stupid nor blind; he was a man.
He knew why a woman would come to him in the middle of the night.
And perhaps—
from the dinner when her foot reached out to his side, brushing against his leg—
he might have already seen through this woman’s intentions.
Only—
Lu Xiao took a deep breath, staring at her, unapologetically asked, “Have you always been so immodest, entering a strange man’s room in the dead of night so casually?!”
Wen Xian’s eyes smoldered, her delicate red lips slightly parting: “Alas, we are far from strangers now, Captain Lu, you’ve seen every inch of me.”
“You—”
Lu Xiao was suddenly choked up, the tips of his ears feeling hot.
Wen Xian watched every minute expression on his face, as if sensing something, and suddenly, with a mischievous smile, she batted her eyes: “So it seems you have seen it all, haven’t you, Captain.”
Lu Xiao pressed his tongue against his back teeth, his jaw tensed, as he turned away: “…”
Shit.
