Chapter 373: Dragons have joined (2)
A large part of the huge wall was torn down as a 20-story tall insect monster threw its sharp claws at the stone wall, damaging it heavily with each attack. Powerful cannons fired at the insect but it did not seem to work.
‘Dammit! It adjusted already?’
The field marshal of the giant city of Hattinum, Jack Hanielson, frowned. This was a very perilous moment for the defense of the city. All their forces had been activated to defend, but it was getting harder by the minute.
“Sir.”
A middle-aged officer came up to him and Jack asked, “Preparations?”
“It is done, sir.”
Jack nodded and walked over to the prepared machine. Soldiers were immediately ordered off the wall as three giant insect monsters began climbing up. That was when a loud boom filled the area, then dust clouds spread out.
“Th… the wall…”
“So it came to be…”
The soldiers wore grim expressions. The wall they had been defending was now no more, along with the three large insect monsters. Only half of their carcasses remained.
“Retreat! We will move back and regroup to strike back!”
The soldiers began to quickly retreat. By now, the defensive line on the outskirts of the city must have been prepared. There was not much they could do anymore but to fight the oncoming onslaught of Vaselan warriors.
“Look at those numbers.”
“Damn. They are like goblins.”
All they could see on the horizon was a huge number of alien warriors. Just then, a dark shadow was cast over them. Soldiers looked up towards the sky and saw a giant creature towering over them.
“Dragon!”
Suddenly, all the soldiers burst out in shouts, not out of fear or giving up, but of hope and joy. They all remembered the day when the great emperor had returned on top of a dragon. Dragons were not their enemies. They were the friends of the emperor.
“Whoaaaaaaa!”
Soldiers cheered with joy as the dragon roared above. It then flew down and landed, then opened its mouth.
Flames bellowed out from its mouth, burning everything in its path. Thousands of enemies immediately turned into ashes without leaving a trace. Their magical shields did not work, nor were any of their light ray attacks effective against the dragon.
The dragon’s breath kept burning all the enemies while soldiers hurriedly tended to their comrades.
“Men! The dragons are with us now! Rise up! Get the wounded and retreat! Let’s not waste this valuable opportunity to save ourselves!”
