Shadow Ruler - Chapter 4.1
Chapter 4.1
Current Location: Katakuri Town
I came to a place called Guild to make my Guild Card.
But Lily-san is intimidating everyone around her, Dan-san and Anne-san are looking at her with a dumbfounded expression, and Zell-san is trying to calm Lily-san down casually.
And I can’t move because I am still in Anne-san’s arms.
Anyway, I went to Carna to see the receptionist? I tell her with my eyes that I want her to take care of it, and she nods at me.
“Oh, I’m sorry, those people are making so much noise…”
“No, no, this time we are going to make that young lady’s Guild Card, is that correct? And also to handle the two of you two’s Beast Demon Contracts?”
“Yes, please… Does it cost anything?”
“Is this your first time registering?”
“Yes.”
“Oh, there is no charge for that. But if you need to reissue, your rank will be reset to the bottom and you will be charged 5 gold coins.”
“That’s a lot of money.”
“It’s a lot of money, isn’t it? You know what they’re like.”
“I’m sure… I’m just going to let it slide. You’re talking to a guy like me, right? Most people are surprised to see you – like those guys over there.”
By “those guys over there” I mean the other Guild employees and the others who are hearing Carna’s voice.
Or rather, the only ones who aren’t surprised are us and this lady.
I hear that talking birds are quite rare.
“It’s not like there aren’t any demons or animals that talk. Besides, I know a guy who has a talking sword or something, so I’m used to it.”
“You mean like magic swords?”
“No, it seems that the sword was possessed by a ghost and became a guardian spirit, right?”
“So that’s what it is…”
“That’s the way it is. Besides, you can’t get by without letting things be as they are.”
“You’re doing good, aren’t you?”
“You too, birdie.”
“I was given the name Carna by my master, the little girl over there. Please use that name. This is my so-called colleague Shasty.”
“Nya.”
“I’m glad to meet you. In case you are wondering, my name is Alice. For now, could you please write down the information of your master on this piece of paper?”
“Do I have to be the one doing this?”
“In my opinion, the girl doesn’t seem to be able to write yet, and I have decided that Carna is a kind of guardian. It’s not uncommon for someone to write on their behalf.”
“Okay, I’ll ask Shasty to do it then.”
“Nyau.”
Shasty took the pen with her tail and began to write.
“You write beautifully – I thought Carna-san was going to do it.”
“I can write, but as you can see, Shasty’s handwriting is more beautiful.”
“You have the right person for the job.”
“That’s what I’m saying. I can speak, so I’ll be doing a lot of interpreting and that sort of thing.”
“Nyau.”
“Oh, so you can write.”
“So all you need to write is the full name, including the family name if there is one, and the gender and age?”
“Yes. It is not necessary to write the age, but we will need to know a little bit about it when we look up the information after you have declared yourself. As for the others, there are cases where the person in question might not know about it.”
“I see… Well, Freesia certainly doesn’t know anything about it.”
“So the young lady’s name is Freesia-san. That’s a lovely name.”
“It’s the only gift from her mother.”
“–Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset her.”
“Don’t worry about it, it’s fine.”
“Now that we have the information we need, we’d like to have a little bit of blood and a little bit of magic power…”
“…blood…”
” Would you like some help?”
“No. – I hope it doesn’t frighten her…”
“You’re so overprotective.”
“We are her guardians.”
“Don’t worry. We’ll use this magical tool.”
“What’s that?”
“This is a special magical tool that contains a very small amount of transfer magic.”
“What does it do?”
“If you attach it directly to the target’s skin and let a little bit of magic power flow through it, only the blood will be transferred here. There’s no harm to the body, and it’s me who will put the magic power into it, in this case.”
“You don’t have to be the person, that’s convenient. And it’s helpful.”
“No, no. But as for the magic power, I’m going to ask you to directly touch the crystal ball here…”
“I have to bring her here, don’t I?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Okay, Shasty, just do it lightly.”
“Nyau.”
Everyone reacted with an “Ouch!”
I thought Shasty moved quickly, and then she jumped up and down using a nearby chair and table to smack all the other members of the group in the head with her tail, except me.
It seemed to be a bit powerful, though, and I heard a lot of -BESH! -and -bash!
By the way, the adventurers who were watching those movements looked impressed.
“What the hell are you doing out of the blue, Shasty!”
“Nyau?” Translation: You want to take another hit?
“No, it’s nothing.”
“Nyau” Translation: Alright.
“So, what’s going on?”
“Nyau.”
“Over there? Oh… I’m sorry.”
I looked at Carna, who was pointing at me with her tail, and Alice-san, the receptionist’s sister, who was waving calmly.
It seems that Carna had Shasty give them a light punishment and took me to the other side.
Shasty, be gentle, okay?
