Rest In A Demon’s Embrace - Chapter 194 - Waking Up
“Good morning.”
Luo Xiao rubbed his eyes as the gentle voice entered his ears. The first rays of the sun were shining into the room, and shrouded the furniture in a soft and gentle light.
Jiang Yao was seated at the edge of the bed, looking down on the dazed young man who was trying to wake up. Although his heart was aching, he knew that their peaceful days together were coming to an end.
Although their separation would be short, it was still making him uncomfortable and depressed. Jiang Yi had already told him all the benefits of him going to the world above, and while he understood the logic, he was not at all willing.

A sigh escaped his lips as he gently caressed Luo Xiao’s cheek. The soft and warm skin underneath his finger was addictive, but sometimes hard choices had to be made.
Had this been before Jiang Yao had met Luo Xiao, then he would have made the decision on his own without even considering the younger man’s feelings, but after being with this lover of his, he knew that a relationship was about being equal.
“I have something important that I need to discuss with you today.”
No matter how unwilling he was, Jiang Yao knew what was the most suitable solution, but he could not make the decision on his own. This was a matter that concerned not only his own future, but also Luo Xiao’s so they had to discuss it together.
“What is it?”
Luo Xiao was not aware of the trouble that he had encountered. Although he knew that an assassin had entered their room at the auctionhouse last night, he did not know what it meant, nor what troubles it brought along, so he was still calm and carefree.
“Come with me.” Jiang Yao’s eyes were full of tenderness as he looked at the unsuspecting Luo Xiao. The topic they were about to discuss had to be taken seriously, and thus he wanted them to go to his study where he would slowly explain the whole situation in details.
Luo Xiao could not help but raise an eyebrow in surprise, as he sensed the conflicting mood of the demon in front of him. As far as he was aware, Jiang Yao had always been selfassured and domineering. If there was something he wanted, he would get it without doubt, and he would never be this confused. That was unless it concerned him, so Luo Xiao could guess that the matter was, in one way or another, influenced by him.
Knowing that the topic they had to discuss was influencing Jiang Yao, the younger man decided to hurry up, so he quickly went to wash up, change his clothes, and rinse his mouth and teeth with salted water.
“Let’s go.” Luo Xiao was still smiling happily as he took Jiang Yao’s hand in his. The two walked towards the study together, but before the demon prince began to speak, he searched the room for anyone listening in on their conversation.
The reason that they had succeeded in using the listening device at the fourth prince’s place the night before was due to his stupidity.
It was not usually possible to use such a tool to listen in on his conversations, but due to the visit of a cultivator from the higher realms, he had let go of his vigilance and forgotten to ensure the safety of his own chambers.
The lady was equally uncaring about such details. If she was in the realms above she might be a bit more alert, but she did not take these lower realm cultivators seriously at all, and even viewed them as ants. How could she, a noble person, possibly be worried about a few pests that could be killed at will?
Under any ordinary circumstances, one would ensure that there was no one spying on them. Even Luo Xiao was used to doing such searches before he spoke of sensitive subjects. Even if his strength was not enough to locate the true powerhouses, he could still catch the smaller fish if they attempted to dig for some news.
“Xiaoxiao, do you remember that assassin we encountered in the auction house yesterday?”
Jiang Yao’s brows were furrowed and he clearly felt hesitant and uncertain of how to explain the situation.
Luo Xiao’s expression had been light, but after hearing the solemnity of Jiang Yao’s words, he slowly furrowed his brows and nodded his head.
“That assassin was there to kill you. He was sent by your aunt on your father’s side. I am not sure how many siblings your biological father has, but this one is trying to get rid of you.”
Luo Xiao did not doubt Jiang Yao’s words. Although he did not have much contact with his aunt previously, and even though the story of his parents was beautifully told, it was obvious that the tension within these higher-ranked families in the world above was anything but peaceful.
Since Qin Zhaolu had managed to locate him, then it was likely that others had found traces of his identity as well. From the time spent next to Jiang Yao, even someone as innocent as Luo Xiao knew of the gruesome infighting that some families had, as they tried to fight for power and fame.
