Chapter 206: It's All A Dream (14)
When Allen was thinking about his past, he saw the monitor of his computer lighting up as it turned on on its own.
Sitting on his chair, Allen read the contents that were displayed on his monitor, and there he saw that Asther had sent him a message.
[Asther: Good news, Allen! The Supreme Academy didn’t hesitate to agree to test you to see whether you are worthy of the <Supreme Luckster> talent or not. One of the reasons why they might not have suspected me of lying about your talent was that they believed that you were a late bloomer.]
[Asther: After all, the chances of you being a Supreme are quite high since your younger brother is already a Supreme. There are already cases where a Supreme’s siblings also became Supremes since it’s mostly genetics. That’s why the Supreme Academy didn’t doubt my words and told me that they would send staff to your house who would act as your guide. The Supreme Academy was intrigued by your luck-related <Supreme> talent, so those executives of the Supreme Academy suggested the test be held at one of the facilities of the Supreme Academy.]
[Asther: So yeah, the test will be held at the Supreme Academy’s facilities. And a Supreme Academy staff member will be sent to your house as a guide so that you wouldn’t be lost at the Supreme Island considering it is quite vast with numerous facilities and infrastructure.
[Asther: And no, I am not joking you, pranking you or anything. The Supreme Academy staff will arrive tomorrow, so prepare the defensive clothes and weapons that I have given you. It’s better to be safe than nothing since the Supreme Academy is filled with Supremes and anything could go wrong.]
After reading all of the messages sent to him by his younger brother, Allen replied to him.
[Allen: Don’t worry, I believe you. Anyway, you are too cautious. Don’t forget that I will become the <Supreme Luckster>. Even if someone points and shoots me using a machine gun at point-blank range, I won’t die. But yeah, I will still wear it.]
It seemed that Asther was offline, so after sending that message, Allen turned off the power of his computer. He didn’t even have any plans to play games on his computer because he felt his body weakening and becoming drowsy.
It was like someone was sucking and draining him of his energy, which resulted in his weakening and drowsiness. And last time he checked, there was only one parasite who could ever do that to him.
It was without a doubt caused by a soul parasite known as the Supreme Luck System. It was already a week and several hours of him not using the Supreme Luck System, so the system must have resorted to draining him of his soul energy since it couldn’t sustain itself due to him not using it.
Allen knew that it was a barbaric way for the system to do that to him and that he might even die because of the system draining his soul energy. But even so, he wasn’t afraid of death. He had already resolved himself to take the system with him to the underworld, and his mind wouldn’t change any more.
Allen knew that sooner or later, he would be too weak to be capable of moving his body, so he went to his bed and lay on it. After all, he didn’t want to fall and lay on his wooden floor and die there. He preferred to die on his bed rather than on his wooden floor.
He couldn’t help but chuckle at how he had such a thought even in the face of death. For him, it was quite normal since he even dared to kill himself by overdosing with sleeping pills, so such actions were already considered normal to him.
It didn’t bother him that a soul parasite was trying to kill him. After all, the process of him being killed by the soul parasite wasn’t that painful. He only felt his body weakening and becoming drowsy as if he had taken sleeping pills but not overdosed it.
He knew that if his body fell unconscious, then it was without a doubt a sign that he would die a few hours afterward. He would rather experience all of this and die than become a slave of the system.
[Ding!]
[The host’s condition is currently deteriorating due to the host’s energy being siphoned by the system. The only way to prevent it is for the host to use the Supreme Luck System by chanting “Guide”.]
[If not, the host will die in 3 hours. Please don’t be stubborn, host, and accept your fate.]
Even his soul parasite notified him of his impending doom, not that he cared to listen to its bullshit.
“Fuck you! That’s like pointing a gun at my head and asking me to eat poisoned food.”
With all of his remaining energy, Allen cursed at his soul parasite and by doing so, it weakened himself further to the point where he could no longer move nor utter any word.
Due to that, even if the soul parasite forced him to, he couldn’t even chant the word “Guide” which meant that his death was now inevitable. But even if he can’t move his body, he could still think in his mind, but it was still a laborious task to do so due to his drowsiness messing up his mind.
‘Is this how I am going to die? Not by my own hands but because of a damn soul parasite? Heh. How pathetic.’
Allen ridiculed himself for how things had turned out. Not only did he fail to even kill himself, but he would die because of a soul parasite and not by his own hands.
He had believed that no one could kill him other than himself but it seemed that life always wanted to prove us wrong.
‘Asther, it seems that I can’t even fulfill my promise to you of becoming a Supreme.’
‘I… apologize…’
With those last thoughts in his mind, his consciousness faded as he fell unconscious.
