My Second Life in Another World - Chapter 303: Broken Faith
Chapter 303: Broken Faith
“Anyone, please get me out of here – HIIEK*” Myung-oh screamed in terror as Dok-ja threw a spike near his head. His actions shocked Hyun-sung and Sang-ah, as they weren’t able to react or understand why he did that. But Dok-ja didn’t tell them anything and stood up, walking towards Myung-oh.
“Y-Y-You all,” Myung-oh cried out while looking at the people who’ve come to rescue him.
“Calm down Myung-oh-ssi,” Sang-ah quickly took out the combat knife she got during her time outside and used it to cut the ropes that bound Myung-oh, as Dok-ja and Hyun-sung looked out for the ground rats.
Well, at least Hyun-sung was doing that.
‘It’s coming,’ Dok-ja thought as the wall where his spike landed started to crack. As Sang-ah quickly pulled Myung-oh away from the wall and rushed back toward the other three.
CRACK* CRACK*
The wall cracked as heavy pressure spread throughout the room, crushing everything that it landed on. The roaches Gil-young brought all exploded together. The rats in the area were all trembling in fear as if something ominous had appeared.
And it was so, something ominous had appeared in front of Dok-ja, Sang-ah, Hyun-sung, Gil-young, and Myung-oh.
[The Warden of the dark has appeared.]
[The sub-scenario has been updated.]
[The sub-scenario ‘Defeat the Warden’ has begun]
“Gweh,” Gil-young, who was hit by the mental damage because of the roaches he was connected to dying, barfed without being able to suppress it.
“W-what is that?” Sang-ah gulped in fear looking at the thing that appeared in front of them.
She wasn’t sure if it was a male or female, but it was a long and thin, human-like creature almost three times their size, draped in black cloth that covered its grey and sickly skin. Its long arms almost reached its ankles and there were also nearly eight purple appendages flailing behind it. Its head was covered with a hood, just like most of its body.
‘Tier 7 demonic species warden of the dark, of all the monsters the demonic species are especially unique,’ Dok-ja thought as he stepped in front of the group looking at the monster.
Even if the normal beasts and the demonic species are on the same tier, the latter has the upper hand on them. This is also why the treasure the rats collected (aka food, aka Myung-oh) was all an offering to the demonic species.
[The Warden has received the demon king’s blessing.]
Dok-ja looked a little uneasy as he looked at the pop-up in front of him. Dark lighting sparks surrounded the dark warden as its drapes fluttered.
[Kamun, der, etur]
‘I don’t understand what it is saying,’ Dok-ja thought but his eyes widened in the next second.
[The warden of dark spews an aura of fear.]
“Everyone move back,” Dok-ja warned as a wind accompanied by sparks of dark lighting passed by the room hitting Dok-ja first as he was the closest.
[Personal Skill, The Fourth Wall, has nullified most of the effects of Fear.]
[Gwah, Etur….!] The warden screamed as his empty eyes glowed in a green glow.
‘Shit this isn’t good, I didn’t want to fight with it and leave after I take the real treasure,’ Dok-ja thought as he looked at Gil-young who wasn’t in good condition, but Hyun-sung and Sang-ah seemed to be doing ok, although both had beads of sweat rolling down their forehead.
“M….Mother,” Sang-ah spoke in a really low voice but she was heard by the others who looked at her.
“I know it is scary Sang-ah that is why I told you to move back,” Dok-ja said as he pointed the crowbar he had toward the warden.
“N-No that is not why I said that, The monster said mother, So…Kardu Emiren?” Sang-ah blushed slightly in embarrassment as everyone thought she was scared to the point of calling for her mother, but she tried to communicate with the warden.
“Maybe this is how it’s pronounced… Akedu?” Seeing that the monster wasn’t answering Sang-ah tried again.
‘Is she so embarrassed that others heard her before that she is making up bullshit,’ Dok-ja looked at Sang-ah with an incredulous look, but it seemed he was wrong.
[KALIDU!] The warden responded much to everyone’s shock.
‘Hey seriously what happened while I was away, Sang-ah since when did you speak demon language?’ Dok-ja retorted in his head as Sang-ah used her skill to communicate with the warden.
[Character Yoo Sang-ah has activated the skill, Interpretation lv. 3.]
“What is it saying?” Dok-ja saw that it was a skill and asked her what was going on.
“It is asking us to be the mother,” And as if waiting for Sang-ah to say that.
[KALIDU!!] The warden pointed at her.
“M-Me a mother? I am not even married yet,” Sang-ah was shocked and spoke on reflex.
‘I don’t think the warden cares,’ Dok-ja’s eyes twitched, But unlike his expectation, the warden moved his finger to Myung-oh.
[Kalidu!]
“Why should I be the mother? I should be the father,” Myung-oh spoke and Warden went ‘say less’ as one of the appendages on his back went straight into Myung-oh’s mouth without anyone in the room being able to react.
Sang-ah covered her mouth in fear as she saw something going down Myung-oh’s throat.
‘So that is what it was,’ Dok-ja thought, the demonic species impregnate other species with their offsprings, That is what happened with Myung-oh.
“Myung-oh-ssi don’t move,” Hyun-sung shouted as he thrust the makeshift spear piercing through the appendage of the warden making it retract it as it shouted in pain while sending another one but this time at Hyun-sung.
WACK*
Hyun-sung hit the appendage with the blunt end of his spear knocking it out of the way. But the strength behind the strike pushed Hyun-sung back a little. Even the spear was bent from the force.
But the warden didn’t stop as it tried to attack Hyun-sung with two appendages.
“HA,” Hyun-sung shouted as he swung the spear hitting the first tentacle that came from the left away but the butt of the spear broke off as the second one came from the right which made Hyun-sung use the sharp end to stab the tentacle.
‘I won’t be able to react,’ Hyun-sung thought while looking at the third one coming from his left as he was occupied with the last one.
SPLASH*
Dok-ja came and hit the tentacle with his crowbar piercing a hole through it, this caused the warden to pull back all of his tentacles and look at the two people in front of him.
[KRAAAAAH!!] The warden shouted and thrashed around his tentacles trying to hit the two.
BANG* CRASH* THUD*
“Ugh,” Dok-ja groaned a little as he deflected one of the tentacles.
Both he and Hyun-sung weren’t in a good condition, Dok-ja didn’t have enough strength to withstand the attack and Hyun-sung’s spear was broken to pieces he was currently using the crowbar which was also on the verge of breaking just like the spear from before.
‘I just need a second, it is not like I came here without preparing for this,’ Dok-ja thought as he moved back from his position, he looked behind and it seemed like Sang-ah had moved both Myung-oh and Gil-young out of the way.
[Hey Bi-Hyung how long are you going to watch?] Dok-ja communicated Bi-Hyung.
[Tsk, I get it. just something interesting is happening outside.] Bi-Hyung’s irritated voice came into Dok-ja’s ears as he saw two blue prompts in front of him.
Dok-ja was curious about what happened since it seemed to be connected to Haru but now wasn’t the time for that.
[An item has arrived from the auction house.]
[Obtained Item, Broken faith.]
[You are exempt from paying the commission due to your contract.]
With a bright light, a half-broken sword appeared in Dok-ja’s hand. He got this after he auctioned the ichthyosaur’s core after killing it.
As soon as the sword appeared the warden halted in place seeing it.
[The equipped Item is too worn out to use. The durability is too low for it to be effective.]
‘I know that, and I have a way to make it work,’ Dok-ja thought as mana started to gather in the broken sword sending out blinding white light. A few moments later a blade of mana formed over the broken sword.
[Broken faith reacts to your magic power, Blade of Faith is activated.]
“Hyun-sung move back,” Dok-ja shouted and Hyun-sung moved back.
[GWAAAH!] The warden shot his tentacle at Dok-ja who cut with the mana blade.
‘Damn this is taking too much mana,’ Dok-ja thought as he saw the warden was about to send more tentacles his way but suddenly it wobbled nearly falling as it tried to stabilize itself with its tentacles.
