MMORPG: Crowd Control - 269 Assistant
Tang Qiaolian left the VIP room, leaving Cecile alone to make the decision on whether or not to accept her offer.
Thanks to her villainous schemes, Cecile lost her position in the Aries Guild, but then again, she could not blame Tang Qiaolian entirely.
After all, she had a choice to not investigate Lei Zhen and if she had done that, then she wouldn’t have fallen into her scheme.
Alas, there was no such thing as “if” in this world, and what’s done was done.
“This shrewd woman…” Cecile clicked her tongue and angrily ate the dishes on the table.
As much as she hated Tang Qiaolian because of her wicked scheme, she was still impressed with it.
After all, she would have done the same in her position. Not to mention, she hated the Aries Guild even more. Henceforth, Tang Qiaolian dropping her business card was equivalent to having Cecile officially enter Miracle Wing.
‘Hmph, I’m going to eat you poor,’ Cecile sneered inwardly, making sure to fatten up her belly.

A few days later, Lei Zhen could be seen dressing up in a formal suit in his guest room.
Ever since Samantha told him to move in, all of his accessories were brought along from his rundown apartment, including the box of S-grade Nutrient Solution. That was the most expensive thing out of his entire belonging.
“Lei Zhen, are you finished dressing up? Today’s your official day to work as my assistant now that those documents are completed.” Samantha’s voice echoed through his guest room.
“Ugh, I’m trying to get this tie you got me to work, but it’s just not working.” Lei Zhen grumbled slightly.
The new tie was designed in a special way that Lei Zhen had no idea how to attach it around his neck.
Hearing the grumbling tone, Samantha sighed and entered the room, “Turn around for me.”
After saying that, Samantha began arranging the tie neatly for Lei Zhen, and Lei Zhen was like a block of wood, immovable.
“Is this good enough?” She then asked.
“Ahem, a little too tight. It can be loosened for a bit.” He awkwardly replied, feeling her breathing as they were quite close.
As Samantha began adjusting the tie, Lei Zhen suddenly muttered unconsciously, “Jasmine perfume.”
“Yeah, I sprayed some jasmine perfume on me today.” Samantha subsequently responded and retreated a few steps back.
“How’s the tie now? Do you still want me to adjust it a bit more?” She then asked.
Lei Zhen moved his tie around and glanced at the mirror. Seeing that it fitted him perfectly and that it didn’t seem like the tie was choking his neck, he nodded in response.
“How did you know to attach this tie? It’s so complicated for some reason.”
“Just a video online and you can learn it right away.”
“I see,” Lei Zhen nodded his head.
Sometime later, the two of them exited the condo and when Lei Zhen saw Samantha attempting to walk toward the driver’s seat area, his expression changed slightly.
Without hesitation, he dashed ahead and blocked the driver’s seat door, and smiled nervously.
“As a gentleman, it’s only right that I’ll be the driver. Ladies should just take the passenger seat and enjoy the scenery.”
“That’s sexist you know.”
“…”
Samantha rolled her eyes before walking around the car and taking the passenger seat instead.
“Are you still going to idle around and not drive? We’re going to be late to the hospital if you keep stalling.” She then shouted.
Scratching his head, Lei Zhen hurriedly entered the driver’s seat and inserted the key into the keyhole. And with a twisting motion, Lei Zhen started up the car and began to drive their way to the hospital.
Sometime later, they arrived at the hospital and Lei Zhen began going to the parking zone.
The hospital had personal parking floors dedicated to their doctors, so it didn’t take long for Lei Zhen to find the spot that was reserved for Samantha.
However, because the car wasn’t registered in the hospital and the driver wasn’t Samantha, a security guard was alerted.
“Hey, that spot is dedicated to Doctor Samantha and-” Just when the security guard was about to warn Lei Zhen to leave the premises, his eye socket nearly dropped when he saw Samantha coming out of the passenger’s seat.
It was as if his eyes couldn’t believe that someone else would be driving Samantha early in the morning.
“It’s good to see you, Lao Ting.” Samantha recognized the security guard and greeted him. The “Lao” term meant old because the security guard was in his 50s, but still energetic and capable of doing security jobs.
Meanwhile, Lao Ting was still in a daze; it took him a few seconds to regain his composure.
“Ah yes, it’s good to see you as well Doctor Samantha.” Lao Ting said before his eyes trail onto Lei Zhen, clearly not recognizing him and curious about his identity.
“Right, Lao Ting, this person here is Lei Zhen. He’s my new assistant from now on. The data list should have his profile recorded.” Samantha quickly introduced Lei Zhen to him.
Given that Lao Ting was always dutiful and protective of her, Samantha was quite friendly to him. Hence, she didn’t mind spending a few minutes introducing Lei Zhen to him.
After all, the current parking floor was dedicated to the doctors working at the hospital, and he was always around here. With that said, Lei Zhen and Samantha would be seeing Lao Ting every time they had work, so it wasn’t harmful to get to know each other as early as possible.
“Good morning, Lao Ting.” Lei Zhen smiled and tried to be amicable.
However, Lao Ting ignored the greeting and merely looked Lei Zhen up and down, seemingly inspecting him thoroughly. “
“Don’t call me Lao Ting. We’re not that friendly yet compared to Doctor Samantha. Just call me Sha Ting.” Lao Ting said straightforwardly.

After that warning, Lao Ting smiled at Samantha before walking back to his office and maintaining the order here.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen was in complete utter shock.
“Why did it feel like he was using those kinds of father-in-law’s eyesight to inspect me?” He twitched his mouth and said.
Samantha shrugged her shoulders.
“Maybe it’s because Lao Ting had been overwatching me for a long time already and that there were many men that tried to court me.” She said, chuckling at Lei Zhen’s dismay.
“I guess I must improve my reputation now. Otherwise, I’ll have to call him Sha Ting and receive a cold glare every single time.” Lei Zhen sighed softly.
Although Samantha was subtle with her words, Lei Zhen instantly understood what that specific part meant. It meant that Lao Ting was literally the person blocking Samantha’s suitor and judging them as well to protect her safety.
Samantha nodded her head and gave him an encouraging action, making two fists and going downward, an action that signaled ‘fighting’ for him.
Sometime later, they walked through the hospital entrance and Samantha signed herself in for work today through the scanner with her pupil.
Similarly, Lei Zhen placed his eye near the scanner as well to clock in his time for the work. Unlike the old eras where one would be swiping some card to clock in, everything is digitalized and more efficient now.
After clocking in for work, the two of them went separate ways for the moment, mainly to their locker and changing into work uniforms.
And when Lei Zhen entered the men’s locker room, he noticed many curious eyes.
“Is he the person that Doctor Samantha specifically recommended to the board to have him in the hospital?”
“I heard that he failed his license repeatedly and came in through the backdoor.”
“Damn, I want to fail my license now and go through the backdoor. The backdoor is literally Doctor Samantha.”
While changing into his work uniform, Lei Zhen heard numerous gossip about him. Some of them were straight curiosity, some were confused, and the most gossips were negativity directed at him.
Despite the negativity and their intention of not lowering their tone at all, Lei Zhen wasn’t surprised by their reaction. No one would be happy when someone came in through the backdoor after they had worked themselves to death to enter the hospital.
Though Lei Zhen was sure that at least half of the men here were angry at him not for walking through the backdoor, but for being quite close to Samantha.
If even he was interested in her despite his high standards, then the number of admirers of hers were uncountable.
‘What a nice start as an assistant. I might just get killed by co-workers instead of being overworked to death.’ Lei Zhen thought to himself, walking out of the men’s locker that seemed to be a tiger’s den.
