MMORPG: Crowd Control - 254 Mistake
Lei Zhen was smiling nervously when Samantha was staring at him to take a few sips.
Luckily, with his clever brain working fast, he came up with a great and logical excuse to avoid drinking.
“Doctor Samantha, I would obviously love to drink with you, but I’m your driver today. I can’t drive drunk in the street, much less drive in the air.” Lei Zhen said, showing a regretful expression.
Just when Lei Zhen thought he had successfully checkmated her, Samantha flashed an evil smirk.
“Yeah, I’m sorry as well because you clearly forgot my occupation. I can easily make one drunk or sober whenever I want, so your excuse is voided.” She said, giggling at his reaction.
“Now hurry up and drink before the movie begins.”
Without a choice, Lei Zhen glanced at his winecup before drinking it reluctantly. As the red wine glazed his tongue, he could feel the elements she was referring to and consumed its alcohol content.
“How was it?” Samantha asked.
“It was alright, but I don’t think I’m going to drink anymore.” Lei Zhen answered honestly. He would be lying if he said the red wine wasn’t tasty, but he knew what alcohol would do to him.
Meanwhile, Samantha narrowed her eyes suspiciously when she saw how timid Lei Zhen was toward alcohol.
“Did you do something stupid while drunk? Otherwise, I can’t think of another scenario as to why you are so afraid of alcohol.” She asked curiously.
And when Lei Zhen chose to remain silent, the answer became quite clear for her to know.
To make matters worse, the movie had just begun but as usual, it was showing trailers and other advertisements first before the actual movie, causing Lei Zhen to be in grief.
“You have exactly the time until the movie truly begins to tell me why you are afraid. As a doctor, this could become a post-traumatic stress disorder, so I’ll need to know the details.” She explained, using the term PTSD as an excuse to hear his embarrassing past.
Lei Zhen sighed softly, “Why do you want to hear my embarrassing story, Doctor Samantha? What do I even get in return?”
“How about a kiss on the lip from me?” Samantha suggested seductively, licking her lip with her tongue, creating a very beautiful scene.
“Who do you think I am?” Lei Zhen chuckled softly, shaking his head before showing a solemn face.
“Can you vouch for that and won’t renege it?”
“I’m a lot of things, Lei Zhen, but a liar, I am not. That goes against my ethics and principles as a doctor.”
Instantly, Lei Zhen straightened up his back and smiled, “Do you want me to start from scratch or just the specific part?”
Samantha twitched her brows at how shameless he was. Nevertheless, she didn’t really care much about it. They were both adults and a kiss on the lip was nothing in her book.
It’s not like kissing equals pregnancy like most of the rumors that used to circulate around in the past.
“I wish to hear it from the scratch. Going straight to the main point without the build-up is lackluster in my opinion.” She said, staring him in the eyes.
Lei Zhen nodded his head.
Taking a deep breath, he began to explain his fallout with Shan Lin and how he came to realize that Shan Lin’s father was involved with the hostile takeover of the Lei Enterprise while keeping him in the dark.
Time slowly passed by, and Samantha finally realized because of the revelation shock that dealt emotional damage to him, Lei Zhen had lost his rationality and relied on alcohol to numb his mind.
Lei Zhen drank so much alcohol in one go, causing him to be intoxicated and acting out of character.
At first, Samantha thought Lei Zhen might have done something dumb while drunk such as dancing in public with his pants off, but she never thought it was something that had affected him so thoroughly.
And she finally realized that Lei Zhen invited her not because he was interested in the opening theater, but because he needed someone to lean on.
With his sister being in a comatose state, and his sour relationship with his uncle and best friend, Lei Zhen basically had no one else to consult to.
And unknowingly, Lei Zhen’s head was already leaning on Samantha’s shoulder as he told her that he was struggling hard to live.
“Doctor Samantha, I truly don’t know who else I can place my trust in. And I’m even more afraid that what I know is barely the tip of the surface.” Lei Zhen said bitterly.
When he said this, he meant that he didn’t even know if Tang Qiaolian could be trusted.
After all, it was her that revealed this piece of information to him, but how long did Tang Qiaolian know about this matter? Lei Zhen dared not think further than that because he was afraid he might lose another friend as well.
During this time, Samantha placed her hand on his and moved in closer for him to lay his head more comfortably.
“How long did you plan on keeping all of these to yourself, Lei Zhen?” She asked softly, keeping a mild tone to ease his emotion.
Originally, she had thought that she got everything out of Lei Zhen when he first arrived at her condo with a fancy car. However, she couldn’t have been more wrong when Lei Zhen had many more problems that he kept to himself other than the bogus test incident.
Just when Samantha was about to talk again, the movie officially started and everyone else in the other seating rows began cheering.

“Just lean on my shoulder and enjoy the movie for now. Although I’ll still need time to digest what is going on with you, at the very least, I know what you accomplished so far in life wasn’t a mistake.”
She said calmly, lifting his head up and kissing him on the lip, fulfilling her words.
