Chapter 323: Memoir Of The Past: Water Celestial’s Past
“Yes.” The Water Celestial replied to Damien. “This God is your grandfather.”
The Water Celestial was looking at Damien with a gentle gaze. Damien seemed extremely interested in him. His eyes reflected the handsome man’s face, and curiosity burned in them like two little balls of fire.
“Why?” Noticing his gaze, the Water Celestial smiled at him, “Are you surprised to know that you have a grandpa as powerful as me?”
The Water Celestial might be smiling, but his heart was in pain.
Never before had they met. The Water Celestial thought that his daughter, Vivia, hadn’t spoken a word about him to his grandson, which led him to believe that Damien didn’t know about his existence and that this was the first time he came to know that he had a grandpa who was a God.
Well, technically, he wasn’t a God, as he lacked a divine realm.
However, he was a Celestial as he possessed divine power, which he gained through having people believe in him and worship him.
Damien shook his little head, “No.”
The little boy’s words shook him.
“Mama would talk about you every now and then.”
The Water Celestial felt happy and surprised when he heard what he said.
‘She had never forgotten about me. It was I who had been unreasonably cruel to her.’
His heart, which was as calm as an ancient lake, quivered in excitement.
That day, he had been cruel to her and said very hurtful things to her, so he thought that it was her right to hide his existence from her son. Who would have thought that her heart was bigger than the sea and she had forgiven him, occasionally even thinking about him?
“Oh, what did she say?”
The Water Celestial’s eyes narrowed as he looked at Damien deeply.
With a smile, he thought, ‘He resembles Vivia. He is like a copy of her.’
‘So this is what a hero of the lost history looks like. He is strong, and he is also unparalleled in the looks department.’
Damien thought that his grandfather looked like a banished immortal when he smiled. How good would it be if he smiled more often?
There were wrinkles around the Water Celestial’s eyes.
He was old, no doubt.
But even the signs of old age and imperfection on his face did nothing to reduce his level of handsomeness, only adding hints of wiseness to his charming features.
Many would tilt towards him and stare at him for a good few seconds or minutes if he were to enter a crowded road.
“She told me stories about you, about how you prevented the destruction of the world and dealt a massive blow to the undead from which they are still recovering to this date. But grandpa, why did you come to my aid only now?” Damien asked the Water Celestial, “Is it because you were angry at mama?”
If he had always been there for his family since he was born, Damien wouldn’t have lost his friends, maids, servants, Sisi, or teacher. The rebels wouldn’t have succeeded in assassinating his people and kidnapping him. The crimson mages wouldn’t have succeeded in infiltrating his house. The plan of the Alliance of evil would have also been thwarted. The Water Celestial was omniscient. Water was present everywhere in the world, even in the human body, and he had the power to use any source of water as his eyes. Basically, with just a little bit of focus, he could hold any part of the world in his eyes in full detail, no matter how far it was.
Actually, according to what Viva had told him, the Water Celestial, this man was the highest level being in the Far West Major World. That naturally meant that he was the strongest and had the ability to preside over the life and death of mortals and influence their fate.
All the people Damien had known so far would not have died if he had the help of the Water Celestial.
“Naturally, that is not the case. How could I let my flesh and blood be wronged under my nose? Even if I were angry at your mother for marrying your useless father, I would not have let her be slighted, much less you, who resembles her so much. And it’s not like I was.”
“My father is not useless! He taught me a lot of things.” Damien retorted and continued, “You say that, but where were you when we needed you the most?” Damien almost teared up when he remembered the number of people that had died because of him and the tragedies he had faced so face. But real men don’t cry. They hold on to their feelings and use them as fuel to strengthen their motivation and keep on being consistent with their training. That’s what his father, Arnard, told him. He didn’t know why but although he tried his best to hold his tears back, they still streamed out of his eyes. “Do you know how much we have been through the last several years?”
The Water Celestial sighed.
“I was injured in the war that was fought more than 850 years ago. It’s a part of lost history now. The wound I sustained that year left me unable to move.”
“But grandpa, you are so strong.” Damien was shocked, hearing his words. Between sobs and cries, he asked him, “Who could have wounded you?”
“That year, in a fair fight, there was not a single person who could win against me. So they plotted against me.” He wiped the tears off his face and pulled out a handkerchief to clean the snot sticking out of his nose. “They knew how loyal I was to my friend, the Crimson Dragon Yulran. So they targeted him. He was hot-blooded and never put anyone in his eyes. If someone challenged him, he would not hesitate to accept. Because of his simple nature, he fell into their trap. Trying to protect him from certain death, I was injured.”
When the Water Celestial’s blood splashed on the Crimson Dragon, he snapped and went on a ruthless rampage. He was broken and beaten, but that didn’t stop him from crushing the enemies. As if he had lost his sense of pain, no matter how many times he was attacked or how badly his flesh was torn apart, he kept on chopping one enemy after another while pulling the Water Celestial with him, protecting him from harm.
He was trapped by hundreds of thousands of troops that didn’t know pain or exhaustion, but he carved open a path to safety through them and flew away with the Water Celestial.
“He left this world to procure a holy medicine to heal my wound. There are many saints in the Underwater Area and the Four Seasons Garden. These two are Major Worlds ruled by dragons and water deities. The saints of these realms can’t deny us since we provide for them and shelter them. These saints can heal life-threatening wounds like it is nothing. They are living and breathing miracles. Naturally, I believed that Yulran would return with one in no time. He was the son of the patriarch of the Crimson Dragon Clan, the clan head of one of the clans that used to rule the Flying Empire, and he was also treasured by the Dragon Emperor. It should be a piece of cake for him to bring a Saint to this world.”
“And even if everyone refused, knowing his nature, it’s not impossible for him to just kidnap them. But days passed, and I heard no news of him. Days turned to months, and months turned to years. Finally, I became certain that he wasn’t going to return, and I wondered why. After some years, I regained some strength and went in search of answers. And I found that this world had been sealed, cut off from every other realm and planet in the Thousand Great World Galaxy. My wounds worsened over the years as I found no cure, and I entered a deep state of prolonged unconsciousness. A year passed before I woke up, and I felt stronger than before. So I tried to see who sealed the world and if there was any way to break it. But only a hundred years later, it relapsed. I wasn’t getting any better. My health was deteriorating, and as it kept on getting worse, the time I spent in a deep state of prolonged unconsciousness increased from one year to several years, and the number of times I would enter such a state increased from one to three in just seven centuries. Several years ago, I faced the same situation. It’s only a few days ago that I woke up and realized you have been wronged.”
Using his divine powers, the Water Celestial easily found out what had happened during the time he was unconscious. Every drop of water, even water molecules, was like a part of him. He could see what had been reflected in them or what was reflected in them. His ability was terrifying, to say the least.
The truth is he intentionally disowned his daughter so that she would live without worrying about him. He lied to her that his condition was getting better. Whenever he was about to lose consciousness, he would lie to her that he was entering seclusion to meditate. Only he knew that he was already one foot in the grave. He ruthlessly cut her off from his life so that she wouldn’t feel sad when he died.
“Who did it?” Damien asked.
Just who cut off the Far West Major World from connecting with the other world?
