Li Miao began doing her homework, chatting as she wrote, “The curriculum at Shengyang progresses so quickly, and the teaching methods are kind of sadistic. If you’re even slightly behind, you can’t hope to pass without studying until three or four in the morning, especially since the teaching material compiled by the school itself is super difficult—learning it gives me a headache.”
Qiao Yun paused, then pursed her lips and said, “It’s quite simple. I think it’s elementary school level.”
“Then I must be at kindergarten level.”
Li Miao complained quietly, “Whoever came up with this teaching material must be a super sadistic old geezer, looking to get a twisted sense of satisfaction by squeezing the students dry.”
Qiao Yun looked at her with a complicated expression, “It’s not an old geezer.”
Li Miao indifferently nodded, “Alright then, it must be a wrinkly-faced obasan.”
Qiao Yun: “…”
It’s so hard to make friends.
“By the way, if you can’t keep up with the pace once school starts, you can apply to drop a level and get your fundamentals solid. Otherwise, scoring last place would be pretty embarrassing.”
Li Miao worried for this naïve and innocent new friend of hers.
Qiao Yun said, “Don’t worry, it’s no problem. Very simple.”
Li Miao rubbed her nose, feeling that this new friend was a bit too confident and would definitely face a setback come school time.

Sigh, she had never comforted someone before.

On the first day of school, Lu Jingzhi made an effort to finish work early and rushed home to take Qiao Yun to school, even telling his parents not to worry about it.
Su Mian even praised Lu Jingzhi for finally doing something human, which left him speechless. Was he really that terrible?
Shengyang High School was different from rural schools; it was particularly large, and Lu Jingzhi was worried that Qiao Yun might feel intimidated.
He also wanted to take this opportunity to mend their relationship since his attitude towards her had indeed been poor earlier.
As soon as Lu Jingzhi’s car arrived at the door, Qiao Yun and Lu Ting came out at the same time.
He got out of the car, but before he could say anything, Lu Ting’s eyes lit up, and she ran over first, clinging to his arm and acting coquettishly.
“Big brother, you really came to take me to school.”
Lu Jingzhi looked at Qiao Yun, who appeared utterly uninterested, and immediately furrowed his brows. “I came to…”
Lu Ting interrupted him, “I just tried asking yesterday, and I didn’t expect you would actually come, I’m so happy.”
Only then did Lu Jingzhi remember, and his face grew a bit awkward.
He had been groggy from sleep when he got Lu Ting’s call and hadn’t paid attention to what she was saying, simply agreeing without thinking.
So that was it.
Lu Ting, not getting a response, stiffened and then let go of Lu Jingzhi’s arm with a disappointed look. “Big brother, aren’t you here to take me to school?”
Seeing Lu Ting’s suppressed sadness and remembering what his father had said, that the success of the project was Lu Ting’s doing, he kept quiet.
He already felt he had been neglecting Lu Ting recently, which might be why she felt upset.
Finally, he sighed, “Let’s go, I’ll take you.”
Internally he thought about making it up to Qiaoqiao later.
Lu Ting’s face lit up with a smile, her tone slightly bragging, “Big brother, you’re really good to me.”
Qiao Yun glared at them and couldn’t be bothered to interact.
Lu Jingzhi, looking at the indifferent Qiao Yun, said to her, “Qiaoqiao, I’ll take you to school.”
Qiao Yun glanced at Lu Ting and shook her head, “No need.”
She had someone to take her.
Lu Jingzhi took Qiao Yun’s rejection as a sign of dissatisfaction and complaint against him, and with a bitter smile, he said, “Are you still mad at me about not trusting you before?”
“No,” Qiao Yun replied calmly.
Lu Jingzhi felt that Qiao Yun wasn’t telling the truth and thought she was acting up. He subconsciously frowned.
Just as he was about to say something, a car stopped at their doorstep.
