Purple Summers pursed her lips and said nothing, yet her expression showed resistance.
Alexander Summers was somewhat surprised and asked, “Don’t you want to find your parents?”
With a deep sigh, Purple Summers closed the book and said, “I don’t want to.”
Alexander’s thoughts shifted as he guessed that maybe Suzanne Saunders couldn’t accept Purple’s origins. After all, this wasn’t as simple as accepting a body; it was about social relationships as part of an individual’s identity.
Who was her father? Who was her mother? Her father’s uncles, aunts, siblings, and the various relations of her mother’s family, these ties weren’t something one could easily sever.
If they were all sensible people, that would be fine, but if by bad luck she encounters gamblers or drunkards, she could end up entangled with them indefinitely.
If it weren’t for the need to clear the obstacle of their sibling relationship, Alexander wouldn’t wish for Purple to seek her kin at all. He would rather she cut ties with everyone else in the world to belong to him alone.
“I heard that my birth mother, pregnant and with nowhere to go, was taken in by my mother, who later committed suicide due to depression,” Purple Summers said, frowning, “…So now, there are only two possibilities: my birth father either knows I exist or he doesn’t.”
“If he knows I exist and heartlessly abandoned her despite knowing she was carrying his child, it shows he’s a scumbag with no sense of responsibility. Expecting me to acknowledge someone like that as my father is disgusting.”
“If he doesn’t know I exist, it’s been more than ten years by now, and he must have married and had children. What am I to him then? A troublesome legacy left by a former lover? His wife would see me as a thorn in her side, his children would treat me like a contender for their inheritance. Even if I do nothing, their household would erupt into turmoil because of me, and by that time, he would definitely regret… regret that in his rash youth, a moment of passion sowed a bad seed.”
Alexander initially listened seriously, but at the last sentence, he couldn’t help but burst into a mix of laughter and disbelief.
Extending his hand, he pinched Purple Summers’s face and said with a smile, “You’ve thought it through quite thoroughly.”
“Of course, I have,” Purple Summers brushed off his hand and said earnestly, “If being with you means I have to endure this kind of humiliation, then no, I won’t stand for it.”

“What do you suggest then?” Alexander asked her.
Purple Summers blinked, her eyes twinkling, “You’re so powerful; find me an identity where the entire family is deceased.”
“That might be feasible…” Alexander mused as he leisurely played with Purple’s hand, holding it gently.
Making up a lie was simple, but the difficulty lay in how to sustain that lie.
If one day Purple’s biological father came looking for her, the lie would unravel, and it would be hard to conclude.
Thus, the key lay in what kind of person Purple’s biological father was, and whether he would acknowledge her.
If, as Purple said, he truly was ignorant of his daughter’s existence and had no desire to have his tranquil life disrupted, then it would be a welcome outcome for everyone.
But if Purple’s biological father had some understanding of the past events…
Alexander thought to himself: I still need to investigate.
He needed to ascertain what kind of person the other party was before he could pave the way for Purple.
“If I do this for you, how will you reward me?” Alexander asked, his voice carrying an insinuation as he squeezed her palm.
Purple proudly retorted, “What reward? You should be doing this anyway!”
“The thing I should be doing the most is to be young and reckless, with a passionate fling,” Alexander pulled her into his arms with a flirtatious tease, “Don’t worry… I would take full responsibility.”
“Not this again!” Purple Summers pushed her foot against his chest to keep him at bay, “Madman, someone will see us!”
Alexander’s eyes narrowed, and as he looked at the empty trouser leg raised in the air, he glimpsed something adorable…
Realizing the shift in his gaze, Purple quickly understood and, annoyed, lifted her foot to step on Alexander’s face to stop him from looking any further!
“You lecher!” she scolded angrily.
As her gaze inadvertently shifted, she saw, not far away, Atra Blanc standing frozen in place.
