Forbidden Zone of the Human Race - Chapter 280: Training
Chapter 280: Training
Luo Lei was pissed as he watched Xiang Ning and Wu Rui leave. He felt that they were still young and not wise enough. Lode City was second only to Heavenly Star City, a far cry from a small border city like Marsh City.
“What should we do now?” Shen Yi was worried because Xiang Ning and Wu Rui’s teams were quite powerful, even though they came from a small city. Most of the students in their squads were from prestigious families; they wouldn’t even bother to accept their measly bribe.
Marsh City was the only city they hadn’t been able to collect any true information from—especially on Xiang Ning, since the government had censored most of his information. Li Zimo and Liu Ruoxue were from military families, so their information wasn’t widely available as well. Lu Shiyu was the most enigmatic among them, due to originating from the planet Azura, and was also from a military family. Only Fang Rou’s information was readily accessible.
After all, her father, a tier seven powerhouse, was stationed at Marsh City.
As for the Hanwu Academy representatives, Wu Rui was a prodigy that had grown stronger in a short period of time. His growth was so explosive that the information on him had yet to be updated. The rest of his squad, on the other hand, was thoroughly investigated and came from normal families. That was why they had thought that the squad from Qiling Academy was more or less the same.
A group of normal students thinks they have the chance to be in the top five just because they got here? “Hmph! We just have to spend some money to let them sleep in the recovery capsule!” Luo Lei turned and left, anger seeping into his voice.
Shen Yi was shocked. While they were sponsored by the city and their own school, their funds weren’t unlimited. To allow two teams to stay in a recovery capsule would cost at least sixty million dollars. It would be fine if they could be in the top five, but if they didn’t make it.…
She didn’t dare to think further. To even be able to step into the qualifier meant that they had been saddled with prestige and expectations. If they were to fail, not only would they lose all the prestige they had right now, they would have no idea how to explain their loss to the city and schools. She didn’t say what was on her mind, but it was too late anyway. She had thought about all kinds of different scenarios and their results. She was afraid of the worst-case scenario, and that was if Xiang Ning and Wu Rui won. The two had seemed extremely confident of it happening.
……
Both Wu Rui and Xiang Ning had already forgotten about the encounter, because it was nothing major. They would only need to wait for the qualifiers tomorrow.
There was still plenty of time to kill, so Wu Rui asked Xiang Ning to come and teach his squad. He knew how insightful he was.
Their actions were also approved by their instructors. It wasn’t because the instructor was weaker than Xiang Ning, but it still had to be said that the instructor had been much weaker when they were his age.
That was why Xiang Ning had brought the rest of them to the gym in the hotel where there was a small practice arena.
“Come on up. You first, Wu Rui.” Xiang Ning was standing barefoot in the center.
Wu Rui confidently smiled. “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll grow stronger and beat you?”
“Sigh, you’re still too weak. I need to train you to become stronger so you can finally become my sandbag,” Xiang Ning joked. The atmosphere was quite friendly; only Xiang Xiaoyu was in the audience, curiously looking on.
“It’s really good to be young. And you, I wonder what kind of karma you accumulated that you could meet Xiang Ning.” Hanwu Academy’s instructor, Mu Ronghua, was talking to Lei Zhongyuan. He was weaker than Lei Zhongyuan, but he was a fairly competent martial artist. He had won first place in numerous competitions within the military as he possessed two martial techniques at Peak Mastery. Lei Zhongyuan only had one.
Unfortunately, he had failed to step into tier six due to fate. Maybe that was why he had focused on refining his martial techniques instead.
“Tsk, what are you talking about? Wu Rui’s also strong. His cultivation is no less weak than Xiang Ning’s. I also heard that the Wu clan used all of their resources on him and he’ll surely become a tier seven master. Imagine how famous you’ll be if you once taught a tier seven martial artist?” Lei Zhongyuan was smiling. Only those who had come close to tier seven knew what it meant.
“As if Xiang Ning won’t become a tier seven. Hey, it’s starting. Let’s see how good this ‘teacher’ Xiang Ning is.”
“He shouldn’t be too bad at it.” Lei Zhongyuan recalled how Xiang Ning had not only anticipated his attacks while he was teaching him a lesson, but even counterattacked.
“Mountain Crash!” Just as Lei Zhongyuan was in the middle of reminiscing about the past, Wu Rui launched his attack. It was his strongest attack and had once exceeded Peak Mastery. Those that were observing their spar were stunned.
Especially Wu Rui’s own squad. They knew that there had been some conflicts between Wu Rui and Xiang Ning in the past. Was this Wu Rui’s way of revenge? But in the next instant, Xiang Ning dodged in the most flamboyant way possible. Wu Rui’s attack landed on the ground and left a crater.
“Tsk, how did you dodge that?” Wu Rui scratched his head.
“While you did pour in your entire strength to the attack, you were unable to make any quick changes to the direction due to its momentum. You also have a bad habit of squeezing your wrist downward. If I were to counter and block your attacks, the force would cause you to temporarily lose control of your weapon. I could counterattack at that moment. It would be fine if you could block my attack, but if not….”Xiang Ning pointed his sword at Wu Rui’s neck.
Everyone was dumbfounded after the explanation. His analysis was too accurate! No one in the crowd had realized Wu Rui’s mistake.
Wu Rui admitted defeat. It was no surprise to lose to someone who could not only read his attack trajectory, but also find his weakness. Not to mention that his weakness was a fairly hidden one. Normally, no one could capitalize on it. Xiang Ning also had some weaknesses, but he had hidden them very well to the point that everyone thought he had none.
Mu Ronghua was so excited that he wanted to spar against Xiang Ning to improve himself.
